SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert J. Nimits of Waukegan, who passed
4away on November 7, 2016, at the age of 91; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Nimits was born to Charles and Myrtle
6Nimits in 1924; during World War II, he was an Army ROTC
7instructor at the high school level; following the war, he
8enrolled at Northern Illinois University and graduated with an
9education degree in 1950; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Nimits taught in Waukegan and Zion for 28
11years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Nimits was a sports enthusiast and
13dedicated Chicago White Sox fan; he managed several church
14athletic teams for many years; affectionately known as
15"Volunteer Bob", he is best remembered for his volunteer
16service, especially at Victory/Vista Hospital, where he served
17every weekday until July of 2016; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Robert Nimits was preceded in death by his
19parents; his sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Nimits, and Mary Hayes;
20his nephew, William "Bill" Hayes Jr.; and his close friend,
21Frieda Ernst; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Nimits is survived by his wife, Jennifer
2Hayes; his children, Katie, and Michael; and many friends;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Robert J. Nimits, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Robert Nimits as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
