SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of former Illinois State Representative, Sam
4W. Wolf of Granite City, who passed away on November 4, 2016;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sam Wolf was born on January 4, 1919 in Venice;
7his parents were Earl and Elizabeth Wolf; he married Mae Frank
8on November 9, 1946; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sam Wolf proudly served his country in the United
10States Army during World War II; he was inducted as a Private
11in January of 1941 and discharged as a Chief Warrant Officer in
12December of 1945 after having served in the Pacific and
13European theatres; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sam Wolf served as State Representative of the
1556th District from 1974 to 1992; during his career, he was
16instrumental in having the name of Belleville Area College
17changed to Southwestern Illinois College, that named their
18Granite City Campus as the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus in
19honor of his work; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sam Wolf was a Southwestern Illinois College
21Trustee and was elected in 1995; he served as president of the

1Granite City Real Estate Board and the Granite City Kiwanis
2Club; he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Tri City
3Chamber of Commerce; he was elected to serve as a delegate to
4the Democratic Mid-Term National Conference in December of
51974; he was elected to serve as a Democratic National
6Committeeman from Illinois in June of 1975; he served as
7secretary-treasurer of the Madison County Democratic Central
8Committee from 1970 until his passing; he also owned and
9operated a real estate and insurance business in Granite City
10for many years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sam Wolf was preceded in death by his parents; his
12wife, Mae; his son, Larry Wolf; his brother, Carl Wolf; and his
13daughter-in-law, Charlotte Diane Wolf; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sam Wolf is survived by his son, Dave (Candy)
15Wolf; his sister, Shirley Tretter; his daughter-in-law, Susan
16Wolf; his grandchildren, Renee Wolf, Damon (Rose) Wolf, Erin
17Wolf, Dave (Sheila) Wolf, and Tanya Kennedy; his
18great-grandchildren, Megan Morse, Jake Wolf, J.D. Wolf,
19Mackenzie Kennedy, and Gavin Kennedy; and many extended family
20members and friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
23family and friends, mourn the passing of former Illinois State
