SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward D. "Hook" McCormick of
4Collinsville, who passed away on June 9, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was born in East St. Louis to
6Milford and Marie (Bailey) McCormick on August 13, 1943; he
7married Gloria "Jeannie" Hensler; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Edward McCormick retired from Monsanto in Sauget;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was the former President of the
11Chemical Workers Union, where he was the chief spokesman of
12local and big table negotiations; he was awarded the 1998 Labor
13Man of the Year; he belonged to the Southwestern Central Labor
14Council; he was awarded the 1992 Thomas E. Boyle Award for
15dedication and personal contribution to the International
16Chemical Workers Union; he was a full-time union representative
17from 1980 until his retirement in December of 1998; he was a
18democratic precinct committeeman and received the Retirement
19Award from Collinsville Township; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was a member of the Schlitz
21Softball Team and the Collinsville Recreation Club since 1974;

1he was the Fishing Derby Chairman from 1999 to 2014; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was preceded in death by his
3parents; his brother, Bruce McCormick; and his sister, Charlene
4Druse; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward McCormick is survived by his wife, Jeannie;
6his son, Brian (Ruby) Morrissey; his grandchildren, Kelly
7Morrissey and Timothy Morrissey; his brother-in-law, Ronald
8Druse; his sisters-in-law, Linda Osborn and Brenda Russell; his
9nephews, Dwayne Druse and Douglas Druse; and many loving
10nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Edward D. "Hook" McCormick, and extend our sincere condolences
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Edward McCormick as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
