SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David E. Haggard of Godfrey, who passed
4away on March 15, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Haggard was born in Alton to William C. and
6Willie M. (Nance) Haggard on January 30, 1934; he served in the
7United States Marine Corps during the Korean War aboard the USS
8Oriskany (CVA-34); he married Lois Richardson in Oceanside,
9California on August 24, 1953; and
 
10    WHEREAS, David Haggard began his career in 1956 with the
11First National Bank of Alton; he retired in 1999 as Executive
12Senior Vice-President of Mercantile Bank; and
 
13    WHEREAS, David Haggard was a former deacon and board member
14of Abundant Life Community Church and also Edwards Street
15Assembly of God Church; he was a member of the Alton/Godfrey
16Kiwanis and an original member of the Board of the YMCA; and
 
17    WHEREAS, David Haggard was preceded in death by his parents
18and his two brothers, William C. Haggard Jr. and Edward Lee
19Haggard; and
 
20    WHEREAS, David Haggard is survived by his wife, Lois; his

1two sons, Lyle D. Haggard and Mark A. (Britta) Haggard; his
2five grandchildren, Brian (Casey) Haggard, Cheryl (Brad Boyer)
3Haggard-Boyer, Hannon Haggard, Asher Haggard, and Sage
4Haggard; and his nine great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Carter,
5Faith, Alexandra, Zachariah, Titus, Jackson, Madison Haggard,
6and Ariel Boyer; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9David E. Haggard, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of David Haggard as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
