SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dean Edmond Copeland, who passed away on
4March 4, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dean Copeland was born on March 13, 1921 in Alton;
6his parents were Joseph and Pauline Copeland; he married Leah
7"Faye" Fern Angel on May 26, 1951; she preceded him in death on
8August 1, 1998; he married Vida Smith on September 29, 2005;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dean Copeland served in the United States Navy
11during World War II; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dean Copeland was a member of Abundant Life
13Community Church; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dean Copeland retired as Captain of the Alton Fire
15Department in 1982 after 30 years of service; he then worked
16for the Fosterburg Water Department from 1983 to 2010; he also
17farmed and excavated on the side; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dean Copeland was preceded in death by his
19brothers, Carlos and Dwayne Copeland; his sister, Ruby Harris;
20and an infant sister; and

1    WHEREAS, Dean Copeland is survived by his wife, Vida; his
2son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Jan Copeland; his
3grandchildren, Amy Copeland (Mike Abernathy), Angela Copeland,
4and Allyson Copeland; his siblings, William "Bill" (Edna)
5Copeland, Marylin Melton, Roberta "Bertie" Kennett, Paul
6(Lois) Copeland, and Anna Lee Terry; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Dean Edmond Copeland;
10and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Dean Copeland as an expression of
13our sympathy.
