SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alan Skirball, M.D., F.A.C.S., who passed
4away on February 27, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Skirball was born in Dayton, Ohio to Rudolph
6and Zehrel (Pinner) Skirball on September 11, 1923; he served
7in the United States Army Air Corp's 334th Fighter Squadron as
8a Second Lieutenant from April of 1944 to December of 1945; he
9was awarded the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster during his
10service; he married Betty Jean Greene on September 15, 1949;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Skirball earned his bachelor's degree and his
13Doctor of Medicine at The Ohio State University; he performed
14his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at
15Jewish Hospital in St. Louis; he practiced OB/GYN medicine in
16Granite City and Glen Carbon, and was on staff at St.
17Elizabeth's, now Gateway Regional Medical Center, in Granite
18City, the Oliver C. Anderson Hospital in Maryville, and Jewish
19Hospital St. Louis; he was board certified by the American
20Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and
 
21    WHEREAS, After retirement, Dr. Skirball and his wife moved
22to Boca Raton, Florida; he was a member of Temple Shaare Emeth

1in St. Louis, an avid golfer, and a former member of Sunset
2Hills Country Club in Edwardsville; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Skirball was preceded in death by his wife,
4Betty; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Skirball is survived by his three children,
6Richard Skirball and his wife, Donna Skirball, Sally Skirball
7and her husband, Gary Hyduke, and William Skirball and his
8wife, Peggy Skirball; his two grandchildren, Alicia (Skirball)
9Tosspon and her husband, Alex Tosspon, and Richard Skirball,
10Jr. and his wife, Hannah Skirball; and his four
11great-grandchildren, Samuel Skirball, Noah Skirball, Vivienne
12Skirball, and Oliver Tosspon; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Alan Skirball, M.D., F.A.C.S., and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dr. Skirball as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
