SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Edward Strowmatt, who passed away
4on February 18, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Strowmatt was born on April 8, 1939 in
6Roodhouse; his parents were Earl Waters and Martha (nee
7Elliott) Strowmatt; he married Marlene Hendrickson on August 1,
81957 in Senatobia, Mississippi; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Strowmatt retired from Laclede Steel in
101996 after many years of service; he was also a bus driver for
11Laidlaw; and
 
12    WHEREAS, George Strowmatt was a member of Cherry Street
13Baptist Church and a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #31; and
 
14    WHEREAS, George Strowmatt loved camping, deep sea fishing,
15football, watching University of Illinois basketball, and
16spending time with his family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Strowmatt was preceded in death by his
18parents and his sister, Linda McCleery; and
 
19    WHEREAS, George Strowmatt is survived by his wife, Marlene;

1his children, Elizabeth (Jim) Wilson, David (Melanie)
2Strowmatt, Annette (Rich) Fletcher, and Janice (Ron) Crosnoe;
3his 9 grandchildren; and his 8 great-grandchildren, with 2 on
4the way; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
7family and friends, mourn the passing of George Edward
8Strowmatt; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of George Strowmatt as an expression of
11our sympathy.
