SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Peter G. Butkovich of Wood River, who
4passed away on January 21, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Butkovich was born on April 2, 1921 in Wood
6River; his parents were Joseph J. and Mary Butkovich; he
7married Dorothy "Eloise" Evans on February 7, 1948; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Peter Butkovich proudly served his country during
9World War II from 1939 to 1945 with the United States Coast
10Guard; he was involved in 6 invasions, one of which was D-Day
11at Omaha Beach, Normandy; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Peter Butkovich worked at Standard Oil for 18
13years and with the Boilermakers St. Louis Local 27 for 20
14years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Peter Butkovich and his wife enjoyed attending his
16USS Samuel Chase ship reunions, which were held yearly at
17various places around the United States; he was also a member
18of the Wood River Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Wood River
19Moose; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Peter Butkovich was preceded in death by his

1parents and his siblings, Mike, John, Thomas, Ben, Paul, Anna,
2Joe, and Matt Butkovich; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Peter Butkovich is survived by his wife of 67
4years, Eloise Butkovich; his son, James Butkovich; his
5daughter, Nancy (Dave) Ringering; his grandchildren, Derek
6(Kelly) Ringering and Rachel (Michael) Wasserman; his
7great-grandchildren, Andrew and Olivia Wasserman; and his
8brother, Steve Butkovich; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Peter G. Butkovich;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Peter Butkovich as an expression of
15our sympathy.
