SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Frei of Kirkwood, Missouri, who
4passed away on January 20, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Frei was born on May 22, 1925; he was
6drafted into the United States Army and served in the art and
7medical departments; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Frei successfully led one of the nation's
9oldest and most prestigious stained glass firms, Emil Frei and
10Associates, for almost 30 years; his works have graced more
11than 300 churches and institutions across the nation and have
12been recognized by countless experts as a vital step forward in
13the craft; in the St. Louis region, his work can be seen at
14places such as the New Cathedral Basilica, Resurrection
15Catholic Church, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel,
16and the St. Louis Priory; his impact on the trade reverberated
17down the generations and he was instrumental in developing a
18method for faceted stained glass production that is still used
19industry-wide today; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Robert Frei enjoyed traveling the nation's parks
21in a camper with his wife and family; his many accomplishments
22included qualifying for the Olympics as a bicyclist; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Frei is survived by his wife of 63 years,
2Frances Eckert Frei; his 4 sons, Stephen, Mark, Christopher,
3and David; his 10 grandchildren; and his 7 great-grandchildren;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Robert Frei, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
8friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Robert Frei as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
