SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Paul M. Fischer, D.D.S. of Godfrey, who
4passed away on October 26, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Fischer was born in Litchfield on December 11,
61922 to Walter H. and Elnora Grabruck Fischer; he attended
7school in Staunton and Shurtleff College in Alton, before
8entering the United States Army; he served a one and a half
9year tour of duty in China, Burma, and India; he married Mary
10Ellen Jones on January 29, 1944 in Sparta and attended St.
11Louis Dental School, graduating in 1950; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Fischer practiced dentistry in Alton, before
13retiring in 1990; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Fischer was a life member of both the American
15and Illinois State Dental Societies; he was a 50-year member of
16College Avenue Presbyterian Church, serving as a Trustee and
17Ruling Elder, a past member of the Piasa Bird Boy Scout Council
18Executive Board, and a long-time member and past President of
19Lockhaven Country Club; he was a member of the DuBourg Society
20of St. Louis University, the Alton Nature League, the CBIVA
21(St. Louis Basha), the St. Louis Senior Golf Association, the
22Jerseyville Elks, the Alton-Wood River Sportsmen's Club, and

1the Staunton Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Fischer was preceded in death by his wife of
366 years, Mary; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dr. Fischer is survived by his 4 children, Thomas
5(Cathrin) Fischer, Ann (Dr. David) Athas, Dr. John (Amy)
6Fischer, and Laura Fischer; his grandchildren, Andrew
7(Allegra) Fischer, Rosemary (Philip) Holub, Julie Athas, Laura
8Athas, Nicholas (Monica) Fischer, Craig Fischer, and Kirstin
9Fischer; his 6 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Don (Sue)
10Fischer; and his 3 nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Paul M. Fischer, D.D.S., and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dr. Fischer as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
