SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stanley Eugene "Slug" Milby of Rushville,
4who passed away on September 26, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stanley Milby was born in Rushville on February
611, 1933 to Frank and Lourean Lang Milby; he was raised and
7educated in Rushville and served in the United States Army
8during the Korean War, where he played golf on the Army team,
9which allowed him to travel throughout many countries; he
10returned to Rushville after his honorable discharge in 1955;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Stanley Milby worked as a meat cutter for the
13Mickelberry Meat Packing Co., Bartlow Brothers Meat Packing
14Co., Oscar Mayer & Company, and Excel Corporation, before
15retiring; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Stanley Milby was an avid golfer and was involved
17with the Scripps Park Golf Course for over 70 years, starting
18as a caddy at age 12 and moving on to manage the pro-shop; his
19involvement in Scripps Park was his passion; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Stanley Milby was a member of Schuyler American
21Legion Post #4 and Guthrie Pierce Post #1239, Veterans of

1Foreign Wars; he was a member of the Military Honors Guard,
2playing taps on the bugle at many funerals and other services;
3he was also a member of the Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 B.P.O.;
4he was proud to be a Democrat and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Stanley Milby was preceded in death by his
7parents; his 2 brothers, Glen and Frank Milby; his sister,
8Evelyn Lohry; his sister-in-law, Jenette Milby; his niece,
9Debbie Gregory; and his nephew-in-law, Ed Dean; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Stanley Milby is survived by his nephews, John
11Claassen (Sue), David Claassen (Cathy), and Glenn Claassen; his
12nieces, Vickie Dean and Patti Sorg (Ron); his nephew-in-law,
13Dave Gregory; and several great and great-great-nieces and
14nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Stanley Eugene "Slug" Milby, and extend our sincere condolences
18to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
19it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Stanley Milby as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
