SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Horn of Garland,
4Texas, who passed away on October 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betsy Horn was born in St. Louis, Missouri on
6September 6, 1960 to Anne and Irv Slate; she graduated from
7Granite City High School North, Central Methodist University in
8Fayette, Missouri, and Southern Methodist University Law
9School in Dallas, Texas; she married Charles Horn in Madison
10County on July 9, 1988; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Betsy Horn retired from the City of Carrollton,
12Texas, where she served as Assistant City Attorney; she was
13previously employed by the Dallas Housing Authority, where she
14served as General Counsel; she was a member of the State Bar of
15Texas and the Supreme Court of Texas, and was admitted to
16practice in the United States District Courts of the Northern
17and Eastern Districts of Texas; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Betsy Horn was a member of Woodcreek Church in
19Richardson, Texas; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Betsy Horn was preceded in death by her husband,
21Charles; and

1    WHEREAS, Betsy Horn is survived by her children, Charles
2Calvert Horn and Mary Steele Horn; her parents; her brother,
3Bob Slate, and his wife, Maryemily; her mother-in-law, Laverne
4Horn; her 4 sisters-in-law; her brother-in-law; and many
5nephews, nieces, and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Horn, and extend our sincere condolences
9to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Betsy Horn as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
