SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rory Michael Rathgeb of Alton, who passed
4away on September 30, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb was born in Champaign on July 27,
61955 to Glennon M. and Eileen R. (nee Krieder) Rathgeb; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb started his career as a police
8officer in 1987 with the Carlinville Police Department; he was
9a patrolman and later Chief of Police with the Benld Police
10Department; he then served as the Police Chief of National
11City; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb joined the Alton Police Department in
131996; he was assigned to the Patrol Division, the Special
14Community Area Target Team (SCATT) Unit, the Investigations
15Division, the Narcotics Unit, and the FBI Safe Street Task
16Force throughout his tenure with the Alton Police Department;
17he was named the Alton Police Department's Officer of the Month
18twice for outstanding work in his field and received numerous
19letters of appreciation, commendation, and recognition from
20the Department, Alton community members, and the United States
21Department of Justice; in addition to his work with the police
22department, he was an instructor at the Olin handgun range; and

1    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb married Theresa Louise Dugan in
2Carlinville on December 9, 1995; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb enjoyed fishing for trout; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb was preceded in death by his parents;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rory Rathgeb is survived by his wife, Theresa; his
74 daughters, Jessica Lynne Rathgeb, Morgan Christine Rathgeb,
8Amanda Renee Rathgeb, and Gwendolyn England Murray; his son,
9James Robert England; his 4 grandchildren, Harrison Michael
10Nepute, Rowan Christine Nepute, Eva Renee Johnson, and Rihanna
11Renee Barton; his sister, Renee Michelle Waggoner (Doug); and
12numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Rory Michael Rathgeb, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Rory Rathgeb as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
