SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Oliver "Ollie" Albert Schuh, who passed
4away on August 31, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh was born on January 29, 1924 in St.
6Louis, Missouri and grew up in Dogtown; his parents were Robert
7and May (nee Schottell) Schuh; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh enlisted in the United States Army
9Air Corps in 1942; he served as an armorer for B-26 Marauders
10in the 397th Bomber Group of the 9th Army Air Corps in the
11European Theatre; he shared many stories through the years
12about his life in the Army and was a proud Marauder Man; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh retired from Union Electric in 1987
14after 35 years of dedicated service; he was an active member of
15IBEW Union Local 1439 and served as shop steward and on the
16executive board for many years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh and his wife were members of St.
18Catherine Laboure Parish in Cahokia before moving to
19Edwardsville and joining St. Boniface Parish; he was also a
2067-year member of the St. Frances de Sales Benevolent Society;

1    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh enjoyed politics, gardening,
2forestry, reading, education, and spending time outdoors; he
3loved St. Louis and could often be found at Shaw's Gardens,
4Forest Park, the Art Museum, or Busch Stadium; he also enjoyed
5spending time at the Fairmont Horse track and traveling
6extensively with his wife throughout the United States and
7Canada, mostly by train; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh was preceded in death by his wife of
966 years, Eleanor; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh is survived by 8 children, Janet
11(Greg) Corcoran, Bob (Mary Pearson) Schuh, Rick (Alice Carroll)
12Schuh, Tom (Lynda) Schuh, Mary Schuh, John (Celia Boyne-Schuh)
13Schuh, Bill (Anne) Schuh, and Jennifer (Mike) Hybl; 22
14grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law,
15Charles Schottel; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
18family and friends, mourn the passing of Oliver "Ollie" Albert
19Schuh; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Oliver Schuh as an expression of our
