SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Zittie Bea Harris of Alton, who passed
4away on August 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Zittie Harris was born in Merigold, Mississippi on
6April 2, 1943 to Willie and Sarah (nee Ellis) Buchanan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Zittie Harris was employed with Ursuline Convent
8for 20 years, retiring in May of 2015; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Zittie Harris served on the Alton Housing
10Authority Board as a Commissioner for over 7 years; she was
11active in the community and was a member of Bright Hope Chapter
12#85 Order of the Eastern Star; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Zittie Harris is survived by her former husband,
14O.C. Harris; her mother; her children, Betty, Catherine, Daral,
15Every, Olivia (Victor), Dennis, and Marlon Harris; her 22
16grandchildren; her 50 great-grandchildren; her 3
17great-great-grandchildren; her 4 sisters, Emma (Herbie)
18Stanton, Mary Lue Buchanan, Sarah Jean Berry, and Luevenia
19Buchanan; her brother, Willie Buchanan; and a host of special
20and dear friends; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Zittie Bea Harris, and extend our sincere condolences to her
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Zittie Harris as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
