SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Pauline Briney of Findlay, who passed
4away on July 25, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was born in Sullivan on September
625, 1924 to Ora and Dessie Colclasure; she attended Sullivan
7public schools and then became a licensed beautician; in her
8early adult life, she obtained her G.E.D. and then her real
9estate license; she married Ronald Marcus "Bud" Briney on May
103, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was a contributing correspondent
12for several local newspapers, including the Findlay Enterprise
13(writing the column "Methinks"), the Moultrie County News, and
14the Shelby County News; she wrote poetry and authored and
15published several essays and several local history and family
16history books; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was a staunch Democrat and was
18passionate about her town, Findlay; she was elected mayor for 2
19terms; she worked endlessly as mayor to make Findlay and the
20Findlay area all it could be; she was instrumental in the
21initial effort to launch the Eagle Creek Resort and its
22rebirth; she was a member of Faith Covenant Church and the

1Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 Women's Auxiliary,
2both of Findlay; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was preceded in death by her
4husband, Ronald; her parents; her brother, Gerald; her sisters,
5Wilma, Lucille, Erma, and Rosie; and her son-in-law, Barry
6Martin; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Pauline Briney is survived by her children, Connie
8Robinson and Kathy Martin; her 5 grandchildren; her 11
9great-grandchildren; her 5 great-great-grandchildren; her
10sisters, Margie (Joe) Milchman and Corma Cox; and many nieces
11and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Pauline Briney, and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Pauline Briney as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
