SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Albert Allen Demster of Glen Carbon, who
4passed away on June 17, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Demster was born in Grand Tower on March
614, 1926 to Albert Ross and Cleta D. (nee Snider) Demster and
7raised in Chester; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In May of 1944, Albert Demster joined the United
9States Naval Service, serving during World War II; during his
10Great Lakes training, he ranked third in long distance running
11and sixth in long distance swimming out of over 300 men in boot
12camp; he served as an aviation machinist's mate third class and
13was certified as a pilot; he served until October of 1947; he
14became experienced in operating heavy equipment, and, in 1953,
15went to Saudi Arabia to help build the country's
16infrastructure; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Albert Demster gained experience with the Walbash
18Drilling Company, and, in 1955, he started his own business,
19Construction Drilling Company, which he and his wife operated
20until 2011, retiring at the age of 85; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Albert Demster enjoyed riding his Harley with good

1friend of the family, Red Meredith; he was an animal lover and
2was always finding homes for stray dogs and cats, usually his
3own home; he enjoyed caring for his horses and would care for
4them till the end of their lives; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Demster was preceded in death by his wife
6of 66 years, Esther E. (nee Kayser) Demster; his parents; his
7sisters, Margaret Colvis and Mary Lee Higgerson; and his
8brother, Everett "Pete" Demster; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Albert Demster is survived by his daughter, Linda
10(Steven) Appel; his brother, Robert Demster; his
11sisters-in-law, Mary Demster, Helen (Martin) Dooley, LuAnn
12(John) Falbe, and Norma Kayser; and many nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Albert Allen Demster, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Albert Demster as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
