SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marjorie K. Lutes of Woodstock, who
4passed away on June 5, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes was born in Huntington, Indiana on
6September 21, 1921 to Norman and Mary Thomson Karns; she
7graduated from South Whitley High School (South Whitley,
8Indiana) and completed several college courses and attended
9many Elderhostels; she married Clifford M. Lutes, Jr. on May
1012, 1943 in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes served on the Board of Education
12for Woodstock Elementary District 72 for many years; she was
13President of the Board of Education when it was consolidated
14into Woodstock Community Unit School District 200; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes was a member of the First United
16Methodist Church in Woodstock for 65 years, where she was
17involved with the UMW and many other activities; she was
18instrumental in establishing Caring Callers; her hobbies
19included sewing, playing the organ, and spending time with her
20family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes was preceded in death by her

1parents; her husband, Clifford; and her brother-in-law, Robert
2French; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Marjorie Lutes is survived by her 4 sons, David
4(Linda) Lutes, Gary (Cindi) Lutes, Gregory (Cheryl) Lutes, and
5Kent Lutes; her daughter, Gina (Thomas) Halvorsen; her 12
6grandchildren; her 23 great-grandchildren; and her sister,
7Carolyn French and her family; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Marjorie K. Lutes, and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Marjorie Lutes as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
