SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jon Daley Collman, who passed away on
4June 5, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jon Collman was born in the summer of 1951; his
6parents were Edward Collman and Rose Gray (formerly Collman);
7he spent his childhood playing on the streets of Bethalto and
8running cross country track; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Jon Collman
10proudly joined the United States Army and served one tour of
11duty during the Vietnam War; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jon Collman was employed at Laclede Steel Company
13for 30 years until his retirement in 2000; he was also a
14successful businessman who had a hand in several ventures; at
15various times in his career, he and his wife owned Jon's Corner
16Bar in Wood River and Angel Cream Donuts in East Alton; he also
17owned Brenda's Bar and Grill, The Locker Room Tavern in East
18Alton, and several rental properties; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jon Collman was an avid outdoorsman who loved to
20camp, fish, swim, and garden; he also enjoyed spending time
21with his family; and

1    WHEREAS, Jon Collman is survived by his wife of nearly 27
2years, Brenda (nee Workman) Collman; his children, Jon (Aggie)
3Collman, Jr., Sonia (Steve) Kelley, Heather (Tim) Leihser,
4Carrie (Joe) Mashburn, Chris (Bob) Warner, and Jennifer (Bill)
5Lewis; his 4-legged daughter, Sochi Collman; 6 brothers and
6sisters, Dianna (Collman) Ross, Edward "Butch" Collman, Jr.,
7Dan (Katrina) Collman, Stoney (Dava) Collman, Karmen (Ellie)
8Fairless, and Tanya (John) Warner; 18 grandchildren; and 6
9great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Jon Daley Collman; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Jon Collman as an expression of our
16sympathy.
