SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George W. Hauth, Jr. of Marshfield,
4Missouri, who passed away on May 5, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. was born in Waukegan on July 14,
61925 to George W. and Eugenia Hauth; he attended school at
7South School in North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan High
8School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, On October 4, 1943, George Hauth, Jr. enlisted in
10the United States Navy; he did his boot camp at the Great Lakes
11Naval Training Center before being transferred to the Fleet
12Record Office in San Francisco, California; he served aboard
13the USS General U.L. Scott and the USS Tularont in Crypto, the
14Fleet Record Office in New Caledonia, Secret Publications in
15New Caledonia, and the USS Warrick AKA 89 in Crypto; he
16received an Honorable Discharge as a Seaman First Class on
17April 13, 1946; during his service in the Navy during World War
18II, he received the Point System Medal, the Victory Medal, the
19American Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign
20Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Navy Occupation
21Service Medal; and
 
22    WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Navy, George Hauth,

1Jr. returned to Bell & Gossett Co. in Morton Grove as assistant
2foreman before venturing on his own to become a very successful
3business man; in 1952, he founded an arcade business, "Fun Land
4Arcade", in Great Lakes; a nightclub, "Two Two Lounge", in
5North Chicago; and a concession, "Helen's White Hat", at the
6North Western RR Station, Great Lakes; he was also a co-owner
7with his brother, Le Roy, of the "Friendly Tavern" in North
8Chicago; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 1966, George Hauth, Jr. relocated to Southern
10California with his family; in 1967, he became co-owner of
11Ceramic Form Grinding, doing work on the Minuteman Missile
12computer programs; in 1969, the business was sold to North
13American Rockwell, and, in 1970, he became founder and owner of
14Gem-Tec, Inc. in La Habra, California; at Gem-Tec, he
15manufactured computer components and guidance systems for the
16Minuteman IV, the Sperro Missile, the Patriot Missile, the
17Space Shuttle, and submarines and he manufactured various other
18computer peripheral for commercial use; he was recognized for
19his exceptional work on the Minuteman missile Program and was
20awarded entry into the Smithsonian Institute; in 1998, he
21retired and sold Gem-Tec, Inc.; in 2004, he moved to
22Marshfield, Missouri with his family; and
 
23    WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. was the first life member of the
24Masonic Lodge in Illinois; a member of Santa Ana Scottish

1Rites; a member at El Bekal Temple, Valencia Shrine in Anaheim,
2California; a life member of the Veterans of Foreing Wars in
3North Chicago; and a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Club,
4and The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; he was an avid
5pool player, golfer, bowler, photographer, videographer, and
6wood smith and loved traveling in his motor home; and
 
7    WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. was preceded in death by his
8parents; his sister, Doris Foster; and his brothers, Arthur, Le
9Roy, and Eugene Hauth; and
 
10    WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. is survived by his wife of 49
11years, Glenda (Casey); his 5 daughters, Ginger Farrens and her
12husband, Wayne, Cheryl Reigner and her husband, Charles, Diane
13Sepanski and her husband, Dave, Jacqueline Freeze and her
14husband, Pat, and Melissa Rome and her husband, Paul; her 3
15granddaughters, Kelsey Payne, Rachel Reese, and Sarah Freeze;
16her 2 grandsons, Jeremy and Justin Sepanski; and numerous
17nieces, nephews, and many friends; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20George W. Hauth, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
