SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lois Jean Russell of Gladstone, who
4passed away on May 3, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lois Russell was born on November 6, 1924 to Fay
6and Ruby Painter Burkhart; she graduated from Dallas City High
7School in 1942 as the salutatorian; she then graduated from Gem
8City Business College in Quincy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After graduation, Lois Russell worked at Camp
10Ellis near Macomb; she married Delmar Briscoe Russell in Dallas
11City on July 18, 1943; later, she worked for the LaHarpe
12Creamery, the Gladstone Grain Company, and the Gulfport River
13Terminal; she sold Pioneer Seed Corn as well as being a
14full-time mother and homemaker; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lois Russell enjoyed knitting and made many baby
16blankets for her children, grandchildren, and
17great-grandchildren; she loved vegetable and flower gardening
18and solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles; she also enjoyed
19playing cards with family, friends, and neighbors, and belonged
20to many clubs; she was a member of Gladstone United Methodist
21Church, the Order Of The Eastern Star, and the Red Hat Club;

1    WHEREAS, Lois Russell was preceded in death by her husband,
2Delmar; her parents; her sister, Betty Shaw; 2 grandchildren;
3and one great-grandchild; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Lois Russell is survived by her 3 sons, Fay
5(Suzanne) Russell, Gail (Diane) Russell, and Larry (Pat)
6Russell; her 4 daughters, Delma (Nick) Plackett, Nancy (Larry)
7Gapen, Janet (Lloyd) Russell-Jacobs, and Harriet Russell; her
818 grandchildren; and her 29 great-grandchildren; therefore,

10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Lois Jean Russell, and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Lois Russell as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
