SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Chicago Alderman JoAnn Thompson, who
4passed away on February 9, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson was born in Chicago on September
618, 1956 to Exlean Gosa and Thomas Fowler; she married Joseph
7"Ricky" Thompson; and
 
8    WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson joined the Cook County Sheriff's
9Department in 1995 and worked her way up the ranks to
10Lieutenant; and
 
11    WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson was inaugurated as the 54th
12Alderman of the 16th Ward on May 21, 2007; and
 
13    WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson was preceded in death by her
14husband, Joseph; her parents; and her sisters, Naomi Mayfield,
15Kitty Mae Ware, and LaRose Ellis; and
 
16    WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson is survived by her son, Joseph; her
17daughters, Melanie and Latrece; her grandchildren, DeVonte
18Thompson, Jessica Gines, Jerrika Gines, Ernest Gibson, and
19Maiyah Carlo; her step-father, Birdsee Gosa; her brother,
20Alfred Ellis; her sisters, Elaine Poole, Janette Henderson

1(Rev. Clifford Henderson) and Clemteen Hunt; her aunt; and a
2host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues; and her
316th Ward family; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Chicago Alderman JoAnn Thompson, and extend our sincere
7condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
8her; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of JoAnn Thompson as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
