SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dean Sweitzer, who passed away on
4February 4, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was born on December 19, 1951 in
6Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer earned the honorable rank of Eagle
8Scout on June 6, 1966, an accomplishment he was particularly
9proud of; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer attended and received an
11undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in epidemiology from
12Tulane University in New Orleans; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was famous for his love of long and
14large meals, encouraging all to over-order, overeat, and stay
15far too long; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer always made his presence known
17through the loud proclamation of one of his many calling cards:
18"YO!", "You're whacked!", "Ooooooooookay!", "I HATE YOU!", and
19"Can I smoke in here?", all shouted from his undying spirit of
20generosity and love; and

1    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was a legendary personality; his
2genuine humility made him a friend to all and a man who would
3help anyone in need; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was the self-proclaimed "King of the
5Idiots", ruling his loyal cadre of idiots from his seat at the
6Globe Tavern and doing his work as a "hobbyist, not a
7lobbyist"; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In spite of his loud protestations that he was
9retired, Dean Sweitzer was passionate about his work protecting
10the quality of care of the hundreds of residents served by
11Lexington Health Care and the integrity of the long-term care
12profession as a whole; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer is survived by his wife, Pat "The
14Warden" Sweitzer; a daughter, Rachael McEniry; 3 brothers,
15Caesar Sweitzer, Richard Sweitzer, and David Sweitzer, a
16sister-in-law, Theresa Ventura; a brother-in-law, Gerald
17Dennehey; 7 nieces and nephews, Emily, Charles, Christopher,
18Taylor, and Anna Sweitzer and Timothy and Michael Ventura; and
19countless other family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his

1family and friends, mourn the passing of Dean Sweitzer; and be
2it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Dean Sweitzer as an expression of
5our sympathy.
