2    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
3Investigations Report, financial institutions experienced 465
4security incidents with confirmed data loss in 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
6Investigations Report, the public sector experienced 175
7security incidents with confirmed data loss in 2013; and
 
8    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
9Investigations Report, retailers experienced 148 security
10incidents with confirmed data loss in 2013; and
 
11    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
12Investigations Report, the accommodation and hospitality
13sector experienced 137 security incidents with confirmed data
14loss in 2013; and
 
15    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
16Investigations Report, utilities experienced 80 security
17incidents with confirmed data loss in 2013; and
 
18    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
19Investigations Report, the professional, technical, and
20service industries experienced 75 security incidents with

2    WHEREAS, According to Verizon's 2014 Data Breach
3Investigations Report, the manufacturing sector experienced 59
4security incidents with confirmed data loss in 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In 2013, 1,367 credit card data security breaches
6were reported; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the United
9States government to focus on increased security regarding
10credit card data and personal information data kept by any
11organization; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
13presented to the members of the Illinois congressional
14delegation.
