SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Langdon "Red" Longwell of Oak Park, who
4passed away on October 5, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell was born in Oak Park on October
613, 1930 to Langdon and Madeline (nee Bentley) Longwell; he
7graduated from York Community High School in Elmhurst in 1948
8and attended DePaul University; he served 6 years as a petty
9officer in the United States Navy during the Korean War; he
10married Llyn Forrest in March of 1962; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell returned to Chicago following
12his time in the service and he began a career in industrial
13plastics; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell was a founding member of the
15Lakeshore Ski and Sports Club in Chicago; he was a former board
16member of Oak-Leyden Developmental Services and a former
17commissioner of the Park District of Oak Park; he was a member
18of the "Old Bulls" men's book club and attended a book club
19with his wife for 30 years; he was also a member of the
20original 4th of July fireworks committee in Oak Park; he
21enjoyed playing handball, playing for over 40 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell was preceded in death by his
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Langdon Longwell is survived by his wife, Llyn
4Longwell; his children, Jordan (Amanda) Longwell and Dana
5(Brian) Morrow; his grandchildren, Jackson, Alexa, and
6Victoria Longwell, and Holland and Conor Morrow; his sister,
7Corinne (Steven) Pombert; and his sister-in-law, Lee (Neal)
8Kottke; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Langdon "Red" Longwell, and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Langdon Longwell as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
