SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of former Danville Commissioner of Parks and
4Public Property, Raymond T. "Ray" Randall, who passed away on
5January 24, 2015; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall was born in Danville on May 26,
71933 to Raymond D. and Leona L. (nee Thirion) Randall; he
8served in the United States Navy as a Second Class Yeoman
9during the Korean conflict; he married Phyllis Varner on April
1016, 1955; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall worked in sales at Thirion Glass
12Co. for several years and later at Hyster NACCO; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall served for 12 years as Danville's
14Commissioner of Parks and Public Property under the city's
15former mayor-commission form of government; as Commissioner,
16he made many playground renovations, acquired grants for
17improvements to Ellsworth Park, and implemented summer park
18play and recreation programs; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall was a member of Danville American
20Legion Post 210, the Knights of Columbus, the Danville Rotary
21Club, UCT, and the Danville Elks; he was a Red Vest volunteer

1at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center with over 12,000
2hours of community service from 1993 until 2014; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall enjoyed bowling in the Elks
4bowling league and was active in Little League baseball with
5the Danville American Legion; he was an avid St. Louis
6Cardinals fan and loved sports; he could be found in the stands
7at all his grandkids' sporting events, and when he was not in
8the stands cheering on their teams, he was in the announcer's
9booth as The Voice of the Toppers for Schlarman High School for
10several years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall was preceded in death by his
12parents; his wife, Phyllis; and his son, Mick Randall; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Raymond Randall is survived by his son, Rick
14(Mary) Randall; his daughters, Terri (Larry) Jaggers and Cherri
15(Scott) Drews; his grandchildren, Christin (Dusty)
16Randall-Murray, Cory Randall, Tara (Zack) Holycross, Travis
17Jaggers, Blair Drews, and Brock Drews; his
18great-grandchildren, Caden Billingsley, Jaycie Jenkins, Cooper
19and Cruz Murray, and Easton Drews; his sister, Jackie (Roman)
20Wagner; his special niece, Pat Cunningham; and many nieces and
21nephews; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2former Danville Commissioner of Parks and Public Property,
3Raymond T. "Ray" Randall, and extend our sincere condolences to
4his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Raymond Randall as an expression of our deepest
8sympathy.
