SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of L. John Lee; and
 
4    WHEREAS, L. John Lee grew up on a farm near Paxton and was
5a farmer by trade; he also worked as a broom-maker at the
6France Broom Company in Paxton; in 1961, he left that job to
7begin a long career as a real estate and insurance agent; in
81983, he sold his insurance business and purchased a 180-acre
9grain farm and hog operation in Hardin County, where he served
10as a director on the Pope/Hardin County Agricultural
11Stabilization and Conservation Service and Farm Bureau Boards;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, L. John Lee was elected to serve as a Paxton City
14Alderman in 1965; 1969, he was elected to the first of his 2
15terms as Mayor of Paxton; and
 
16    WHEREAS, During L. John Lee's tenure as Mayor, the City of
17Paxton gained over 200 manufacturing jobs through the arrival
18of the Baltimore Aircoil Company next to Interstate 57; and
 
19    WHEREAS, L. John Lee is survived by his daughter, Angie
20Lee; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
3family and friends, mourn the passing of L. John Lee; and be it
4further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of L. John Lee as an expression of our
7sympathy.
