AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2264

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2264, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
610-20.24 as follows:
 
7    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.24)  (from Ch. 122, par. 10-20.24)
8    Sec. 10-20.24. Part-time Attendance. To accept in
9part-time attendance in the regular education program of the
10district pupils enrolled in nonpublic schools if there is
11sufficient space in the public school desired to be attended.
12For the purposes of this Section, for 5 years from the
13effective date of this amendatory Act of the 99th General
14Assembly, allowing part-time attendance in the regular
15education program of the district shall include allowing
16resident pupils who are enrolled in nonpublic elementary

1schools to participate in those school-sponsored or
2school-supported athletic or extracurricular activities that
3are not selective with respect to who may join or participate,
4in which case the district may submit a report to the State
5Board of Education on the cost of having the nonpublic school
6students participate. A threshold of participating members of
7non-selective athletic or extracurricular activities may be
8set by school board policy. The number of nonpublic school
9students allowed to participate may be limited to filling
10available spots. All participating nonpublic school students
11must show proof of both medical and liability insurance in
12order to participate. Request for attendance in the following
13school year must be submitted by the nonpublic school principal
14to the public school before May 1. Request may be made only to
15those public schools located in the district where the child
16attending the nonpublic school resides.
17    To accept, pursuant to the provisions of Section 14-6.01,
18in part-time attendance resident pupils of the types described
19in Sections 14-1.02 through 14-1.07 who are enrolled in
20nonpublic schools.

22    Section 10. The Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act
23is amended by adding Section 1.20 as follows:

1    Sec. 1.20. Reporting on communication with schools.
2    (a) On or before July 1, 2016, an association or other
3entity that has as one of its purposes promoting, sponsoring,
4regulating, or in any manner providing for interscholastic
5athletics or any form of athletic competition among elementary
6or secondary schools and students within this State shall
7report to the General Assembly on the association's or entity's
8efforts to communicate its rules to public and nonpublic
9schools in this State.
10    (b) This Section is repealed on July 1, 2017.
 
11    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.".
