AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 460

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 460 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by changing
5Section 65-15 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 65/65-15)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
8    Sec. 65-15. Expiration of APN license; renewal.
9    (a) The expiration date and renewal period for each
10advanced practice nurse license issued under this Act shall be
11set by rule. The holder of a license may renew the license
12during the month preceding the expiration date of the license
13by paying the required fee. It is the responsibility of the
14licensee to notify the Department in writing of a change of
15address.
16    (b) On and after May 30, 2020, except as provided in

1subsections (c) and (d) of this Section, each Each advanced
2practice nurse is required to show proof of continued, current
3national certification in the specialty.
4    (c) An advanced practice nurse who does not meet the
5educational requirements necessary to obtain national
6certification but has continuously held an unencumbered
7license under this Act since 2001 shall not be required to show
8proof of national certification in the specialty to renew his
9or her advanced practice nurse license.
10    (d) The Department may renew the license of an advanced
11practice nurse who applies for renewal of his or her license on
12or before May 30, 2016 and is unable to provide proof of
13continued, current national certification in the specialty but
14complies with all other renewal requirements.
15    (e) Any advanced practice nurse license renewed on and
16after May 31, 2016 based on the changes made to this Section by
17this amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly shall be
18retroactive to the expiration date.

20    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
