HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Captain Gerald Scott
4Compton on the occasion of his retirement from the Illinois
5State Police after over 26 years of dedicated service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Captain Compton started his career with Cadet
7Class 88 on June 25, 1990; upon graduation, he was assigned as
8a Trooper to District 14; he transferred to the Division of
9Operations Intelligence Bureau on April 15, 1995; he was
10promoted to Sergeant on November 16, 1996 and to Master
11Sergeant on October 1, 2001; while in the Division of
12Operations, he spent time as the Southern Intelligence
13Coordinator, Tactical Analysis Supervisor, Post Seizure
14Analysis Supervisor, Staff Officer for the Division of
15Operations, and with the criminal conspiracy unit; he
16transferred to the Division of Internal Investigations on
17October 16, 2002; he was promoted to Lieutenant on October 1,
182005; he transferred to the Office of the Director to serve as
19the Public Information Officer on February 1, 2007; he was
20promoted to Captain on May 1, 2009; he transferred to District
2118 Litchfield as the District Commander in 2011 and to District
229 Springfield as the District Commander on March 16, 2013; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Captain Compton served at the last four Illinois

1State Fairs; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Captain Compton received a Department Service
3Ribbon for the Roby Ridge Incident in 1997; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Captain Compton is the son of Everett and Brenda
5Compton of Nokomis; he is a 1984 graduate of Nokomis High
6School and received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
7Sciences in 1988 from Illinois State University; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Captain Compton will spend time with his wife and
9two children during retirement, which will become official on
10January 1, 2017; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate Captain Gerald Scott Compton on his retirement
14from the Illinois State Police, and we wish him the best in all
15his future endeavors; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Captain Compton as an expression of our esteem and
18respect.
