HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Northlake Fire
4Protection District on the occasion of their 75th anniversary
5in 2016; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Northlake Fire Protection District was
7organized in 1941 and is located in suburban Northlake,
8approximately 18 miles west of the city of Chicago and four
9miles south of O'Hare Airport; the District's total service
10area is approximately four square miles; the Northlake Fire
11Protection District is considered a special district and is
12supported primarily by the property owners within its
13boundaries, serving an estimated population of 7,500; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Northlake Fire Protection District is
15governed by a Board of Trustees elected by constituents from
16the area the fire district serves; the Board is tasked with
17being the corporate authority of the fire protection district
18and exercises all of the powers and controls all the affairs
19and property of the district; the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief
20are tasked with managing the daily operations of the fire
21district and work under the direction of the Board of Trustees;
22Administrative Chiefs work normal business hours at the fire
23station and are on-call 24 hours a day to respond to emergency

1calls within the fire district, emergency calls effecting
2surrounding agencies, and any other pressing matters effecting
3the fire district anytime of the day or night; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Northlake Fire Protection District has 19
5full-time employees, nine part-time employees, and provides a
6full range of services to its residents, including fire
7suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention and
8public education, hazardous material response, and community
9events; the paramedics that serve the District are fully
10licensed through the Loyola Emergency Medical Services System
11and all full-time Northlake Firefighters are at minimum
12certified Emergency Medical Technicians, while most are
13paramedics; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Northlake Fire Protection District's services
15provided from one fire station include, one ladder truck, one
16engine, two ambulances, two utility vehicles, and two
17administration vehicles utilized to supplement response needs;
18the District also operates one fully equipped ALS (Advanced
19Life Support) ambulance and has life support equipment on both
20engines; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The Northlake Fire Protection District will
22celebrate their 75th anniversary by holding a special
23anniversary open house at the Northlake Fire Protection

1District station on June 25, 2016; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4congratulate Northlake Fire Protection District on the
5occasion of their 75th anniversary and wish the District
6continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Northlake Fire Protection District Fire Chief Rob
10Hjelmgren as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
