HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Albert
4John Tieken of Dixon, who passed away on June 1, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was born in Oak Park to John and
6Wilhelmina (Honings) Tieken on April 21, 1929; he served in the
7United States Army and married Nellie Clausen in Sycamore on
8September 6, 1953; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken taught agriculture at Lee Center,
10Amboy, and Dixon High Schools prior to his retirement in 1986;
11after his retirement, he taught horticulture and landscaping at
12Sauk Valley Community College; he started the first recycling
13program in Dixon; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was a member of St. Anne Catholic
15Church in Dixon and American Legion Post 12; he was active in
16the Dixon Combined Veterans Group and was on the original Sugar
17Grove Church Restoration Committee; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken enjoyed joking and spending time
19with his grandchildren; he also enjoyed teaching music, playing
20the piano, beekeeping, wine and beer making, reading,
21traveling, hunting, the outdoors, and trying new foods; and

1    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken was preceded in death by his parents
2and his sister, Elaine Dufault; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Albert Tieken is survived by his wife of 62 years,
4Nellie; his children, Terri (State Senator Tim) Bivins, Deb
5Tieken Catalina (Jim Nagy), and Bob (Barb) Tieken; his
6grandchildren, Lindsey (Billy) Johnson, Ryan (Jordan) Bivins,
7Chris (Letha) Catalina, Brian (Tina) Catalina, Gabriel Tieken,
8Sarah (Greg) Myers, and Caleb Tieken; his step-grandchildren,
9Stephanie (Dave) Hanrahan and Jake (Rose) Angleton; and 23
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13mourn the passing of Albert John Tieken, and extend our sincere
14condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Albert Tieken as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
