HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James
4"Jim" A. Clancy, Sr., who passed away on February 16, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Clancy, Sr. was born November 9, 1931 in
6Taylorville; his parents were James A. and Anna Mae Sheppard
7Clancy; he married Ann Dower on September 14, 1957 at Saint
8Patrick's Church in Springfield; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James Clancy, Sr. proudly served his country in
10the United States Navy during the Korean War; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Clancy, Sr. held an executive position with
12the Secretary of State for 37 years and was a doorman for the
13Illinois House of Representatives; he officiated IHSA
14basketball games for 20 years and had been a member of the
15IVBDSC since 1992; he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
16#755, American Legion #32, and Knights of Columbus #364 and was
17SEA Treasurer and a life member of Navy Club Ship #32; he was
18an usher at the Church of the Little Flower for 50 years and
19president of the Little Flower Men's Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, James Clancy, Sr. enjoyed traveling, Notre Dame
21football, music, dancing, and his grandchildren's sporting

1events; he was the 2000 Irishman of the Year and Grand Marshal
2of the St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
 
3    WHEREAS, James Clancy, Sr. was preceded in death by his
4parents; his daughter, Maureen Mae Clancy; his grandson, Eric
5Aeppli; his brothers, Raymond and Vincent; and his sister,
6Eloise Barrington; and
 
7    WHEREAS, James Clancy, Sr. is survived by his wife, Ann M.
8Clancy; his son, Jim Clancy, Jr.; his daughters, Shannon
9(Larry) Johnson, Colleen Aeppli, and Kathleen (Don) Moles; his
108 grandchildren; his great-grandson; and his many nieces,
11nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of
15James A. Clancy, Sr.; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of James Clancy, Sr. as an expression
18of our sympathy.
