HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eve Johns
4of Marion, who passed away on January 16, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eve Johns was born in Carbondale to Raymond M. and
6Eva Jewell (nee Chamness) Prince on May 3, 1931; she graduated
7from Carbondale High School in 1949 and attended Southern
8Illinois University in Carbondale; she married Harold Gene
9Johns in Arkansas on January 1, 1951; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Eve Johns was devoted to her husband, family, and
11managing her home; she always was interested in their many
12different activities and always was encouraging and giving
13advice when she could; she also loved helping and mentoring
14other children; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Eve Johns attended First Baptist Church in Marion
16earlier in her life; most recently, she attended Aldersgate
17United Methodist Church, also in Marion; she was affiliated
18with CASA and the H Group as a child advocate and mentor to
19children; she enjoyed going to car shows in the area, where she
20would enter her Jaguar in competitions, winning many times; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Eve Johns was preceded in death by her husband of

1over 33 years, Harold; her parents; her son, Dane Ray Johns;
2her daughter-in-law, Karen Johns; and her 2 brothers, Eddie
3Prince and Earl Prince; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Eve Johns is survived by her son, Mark C. Johns;
5her daughter and son-in-law, Daradan and Steve Lampley; her 6
6grandchildren, Vanessa Durfee and her husband, Kristopher,
7Casey Lampley, Dane C. Johns and his wife, Stacy, Kaiden Johns,
8Elair Johns, and Dennon Johns; her 7 great-grandchildren,
9Alicia Durfee, Weslyn Durfee, Theo Durfee, Olivia Lampley,
10Logan Lampley, and Ezra and Eli Johns; her 3 brothers and
11sister-in-law, Raymond E. Prince, Edmond and Elaine Prince, and
12Edward Prince; a host of nieces and nephews; other extended
13family; and many friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16mourn the passing of Eve Johns, and extend our sincere
17condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18her; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Eve Johns as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
