HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dennis Oaks, Fire Chief of
4the Northwest St. Clair County Fire Protection District (NWFD),
5on his retirement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Oaks joined the NWFD in 1980 as a volunteer
7firefighter; from 1985 to 1990 he was Captain of Training; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Chief Oaks became a full-time member of the NWFD
9in 1989; he served as Assistant Chief from 1990 to 2001 and
10became Fire Chief in 2001; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief Oaks completed the Belleville Area College
12Fire Science Program and is certified by the Office of the
13State Fire Marshal; other certifications include Advance
14Firefighter, Fire Officer II, Instructor II, Fire Apparatus
15Engineer, Haz-Mat Operation, Haz-Mat Incident Commander, and
16Vehicle and Machinery Operation; he has National Fire Academy
17Training and has been on the National Registry of Emergency
18Medical Technicians; he is an American Heart Association CPR
19Instructor; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chief Oaks received the Certificate of
21Recognition Award in 2003 from the State of Illinois Fire

1Fighting Medal of Honor Committee; in 1983, he received the
2first Northwest Fire Department Firefighter of the Year Award;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Chief Oaks and his wife of 35 years, Valerie, have
53 children, Jeff, Stacey, and Sarah, and 4 grandsons, Josh,
6Brandon, Kyle, and Cole; he enjoys riding Harley Davidson
7motorcycles, fishing, and camping; he says his most enjoyable
8vacation was to the Rocky Mountains; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11congratulate Dennis Oaks, Fire Chief of the Northwest St. Clair
12County Fire Protection District, on his retirement and we wish
13him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Chief Oaks as an expression of our esteem and
16respect.
