HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Chris Raap on the occasion
4of her retirement as Head of Reference for the Evergreen Park
5Library; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chris Raap graduated from Northern Illinois
7University with a Bachelor of Science in Education; she
8obtained a master's degree in library science from Chicago
9State University in 1974; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chris Raap joined the Evergreen Park Public
11Library in October of 1974, and through demonstrated
12leadership, was promoted to Head of Adult Services; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chris Raap has the distinction of serving under
14all 4 Evergreen Park Public Library Directors: library founder
15Amie Martin, Connie Angelo, Margaret Smith, and Nicki Seidl;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chris Raap was a valuable member of the management
18team that coordinated a successful expansion and remodeling of
19the Evergreen Park Public Library in 2006 and 2007; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chris Raap is a strong protector of patrons' right

1to privacy and confidentiality and is a staunch supporter of
2intellectual freedom; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Chris Raap has experienced firsthand the digital
4evolution in public libraries and has greeted change with
5competence and enthusiasm; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chris Raap has an adventurous spirit that finds an
7outlet in worldwide travel and that embraces diversity; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Chriss Raap's retirement will be official on
9August 21, 2015, after 41 years of service to the Evergren Park
10Library; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate Chris Raap on 41 years of service to the Evergreen
14Park Public Library and to the people of Evergreen Park, and we
15wish her continued success and fulfillment in her life and
16future travels; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Chris Raap as an expression of our esteem and
19respect.
