HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Rev. Dr. Reginald J.
4Saffo, Ph.D. of Bellwood on the occasion of his 20th
5anniversary as pastor of Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo is a native of Ohio; he
8later moved to the western suburbs of Chicago; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo served his country with
10distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo earned an Associate's
12Degree in Arts with Honors and a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree
13from Aspen Christian College; he later earned a Baccalaureate
14of Arts Degree from Governors State University and a Master of
15Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Ministry from Aspen
16Christian Seminary; he also has completed specialized
17certification studies with the Evangelical Teacher Training
18Association, the Billy Graham School of Evangelism, and the
19Stephen Oxford Center for Biblical Preaching; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo worked in transportation
21management with the BNSF Railway Company for several years; for

1the past 20 years, he has served as Pastor of the United Faith
2Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood, where he has tended to
3the needs of his congregation with integrity and dignity; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo has served as a faithful
5advocate for God's people, the communities where God's people
6live, and the quality of living that they gain; he has worked
7diligently for community betterment through his leadership,
8affiliation, and partnership with the Cook County President
9Toni Preckwinkle Transition Team, the Cook County Land Bank
10Board of Directors, the Bellwood Library Board, and the
11Executive Director Proviso Township Minister's Alliance
12Network; he has served as Executive Director of the Proviso
13Action Committee and Interfaith Illinois; he is a member of the
14Chicago Bar Association (Interfaith Committee) and the Chicago
15Neighborhood Initiative Advisory Board (Park National Bank);
16he is the founder of the Proviso Township Business Association,
17the founder and Chancellor of the United Faith Christian
18Institute and Bible College, and the Regional Director of Aspen
19Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo was a recipient of the
21NAACP Medal of Freedom Award; he is also the publisher of
22"Christian Formation Principles", a text guide in the
23structured study of the Bible; and

1    WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo serves as a model of hard
2work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
3Illinois; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6congratulate Rev. Dr. Reginald J. Saffo, Ph.D. of Bellwood on
7the occasion of his 20th anniversary as pastor of Missionary
8Baptist Church and wish him continued success and happiness in
9the future; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Rev. Dr. Reginald Saffo as a symbol of our esteem
12and respect.
