HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Kankakee Community College (KCC) women's
3softball team, the Cavaliers, has won its first national title,
4clinching the 2015 National Junior College Athletic
5Association (NJCAA) Division II Softball National Championship
6with a 5-1 victory over East Central Community College of
7Decatur, Mississippi; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Cavaliers finished their championship season
9with an exceptional record of 45 wins and only 6 losses; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Cavaliers softball team includes 7 freshmen:
11Erin Walker of Tuscola; Ashley Adermann of Wilmington; Brittany
12Hay of Georgetown; Bailee Porter of Bourbonnais; Lindsey Snyder
13of Brighton; Andrea Beal of Elgin; and Kyleigh Payne of
14Bourbonnais; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Cavaliers team includes 8 sophomores: Meghan
16Gill of Bourbonnais; Kayla Snider of Silver Lake, Indiana;
17Mackenzi Spittal of Bolingbrook; Monet Alexander of
18Plainfield; Stephanie Sanderson of Homer; Courtney Posing of
19Manteno; Charlie Nolen of Lucerne, Indiana; and Brittany
20Plimmer of Bloomingdale; and
 
21    WHEREAS, This year's championship for the Cavaliers is also

1the first championship for Coach Dennis Clark; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Coach Clark was inducted into the NJCAA Softball
3Hall of Fame in December of 2014; and
 
4    WHEREAS, In his career, Coach Clark has amassed 1,176
5victories with the Cavaliers; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Also coaching the Cavaliers to victory this year
7were Assistant Coaches Bill Wending, Jim Grimes, and Heather
8Wilken; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11congratulate the ladies of the Kankakee Community College
12Cavaliers Softball Team, Coach Clark, and Assistant Coaches
13Wending, Grimes, and Wilken on their exceptional season and
14their first NJCAA Division II Championship; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to the Kankakee Community College Cavaliers softball
17players and coaches as a token of our esteem.
