HOUSE RESOLUTION

2    WHEREAS, According to the Pew Hispanic Center, there were
311.1 million unauthorized immigrants living in the United
4States in 2011; and

5    WHEREAS, Deportations have reached record levels under
6President Obama, rising to an annual average of nearly 400,000
7since 2009; and

8    WHEREAS, According to United States Representatives Raul
9M. Grijalva and Yvette Clarke, although the Obama
10Administration reportedly prioritized deporting only
11criminals, many individuals with no serious criminal history
12consistently have been deported; and

13    WHEREAS, Increased deportations and a continuously broken
14immigration system exacerbate the living conditions of United
15States citizen children whose parents have been deported; and

16    WHEREAS, Separation of children from their parents,
17irrespective of immigration status, always results in severe
18consequences for young children who are left with no parental
19guidance or care and a highly unstable financial situation; and

20    WHEREAS, As immigration continues to be at the center of a

4    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is home to over 2 million
5immigrants, of which approximately 425,000 to 625,000 are
6unauthorized to live in the United States; and

7    WHEREAS, Many members of Congress recently signed a letter
8requesting that President Obama suspend any further
9deportations; and

10    WHEREAS, Since Illinois is home to a large number of
11unauthorized immigrants from all parts of the world, this state
12should make it a priority to keep families together and
