HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
4Christopher John Pluta of Summit, who passed away on January
526, 2015; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Christopher Pluta was born in Justice to Edwin and
7Helen Murphy Pluta; he graduated from Wilkins Junior High
8School in Justice and Argo High School in Summit, where he was
9an active member and former manager of the student-operated
10WARG-FM radio station and a sound engineer for the theatre arts
11program; in later years, he helped form the WARG Alumni
12Association; he earned his bachelor's degree in education from
13Governors State University and his master's degree in
14counseling from the University of Illinois-Chicago; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Christopher Pluta taught English as a Second
16Language at Argo Community High School; he also taught at
17Proviso, Lyons Township, and Morton West high schools and at
18the Emilio Zapata Academy in Chicago; over a 30-year career, he
19mentored CEOs, business owners, artists, writers, principals,
20and fellow teachers; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Christopher Pluta was a member of the District 217
22and the Summit Public Library governing boards; he was a former

1member of the Argo-Summit/Bedford Park Elementary District 104
2School Board, the National Hispanic Institute, and The
3LeaderShop in La Grange; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Christopher Pluta was a life-long Chicago Cubs
5fan; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Christopher Pluta was preceded in death by his
7parents; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Christopher Pluta is survived by his brothers, Joe
9(Wanda), Bill, and James; his nephew, Michael; many close
10friends and cousins; his aunt and uncle; and a legion of
11students who became friends as adults; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14mourn the passing of Christopher John Pluta, and extend our
15sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
16and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Christopher Pluta as an expression
19of our deepest sympathy.
