Amends the Automated External Defibrillator Act. Adds exceptions to provisions concerning requirements for individuals acquiring external defibrillators. Provides that an entity with more than 1,000 employees may develop or acquire an alternative external defibrillator training program whether or not the training is in accordance with the standards of a nationally recognized organization if the program is supervised by a person licensed to practice medicine in Illinois. Provides that train passengers and crew are not considered or deemed to be anticipated rescuers or users.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Automated External Defibrillator Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 20 as follows:
|
6 | | (410 ILCS 4/20)
|
7 | | Sec. 20. Maintenance; oversight.
|
8 | | (a) A person acquiring an automated
external defibrillator |
9 | | shall take reasonable measures to ensure that:
|
10 | | (1) (blank);
|
11 | | (2) the automated external defibrillator is
maintained |
12 | | and tested according to the manufacturer's
guidelines;
|
13 | | (3) any person considered to be an anticipated rescuer |
14 | | or user will have successfully completed a course of |
15 | | instruction in accordance with the standards of a |
16 | | nationally recognized organization, such as the American |
17 | | Red Cross or the American Heart Association, or a course of |
18 | | instruction in accordance with existing rules under this |
19 | | Act to use an automated external defibrillator and to |
20 | | perform cardiovascular resuscitation (CPR) with the |
21 | | following exceptions: ; and

22 | | (A) Any entity with more than 1,000 employees may |
23 | | develop, jointly develop, or acquire an alternate |
