SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Bruce Lind, who passed away on June
41, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Lind was born on October 3, 1941 in Hibbing,
6Minnesota and was raised in southwest Minneapolis; he married
7Carla Corty in 1965; after marrying, he and his wife relocated
8to Decatur before moving to Oak Park, where they raised their
9family; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Lind graduated from the University of
11Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in business; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Lind was employed in agri-business for 30
13years; he spent the last 25 years of his career as a member and
14commodity futures trader of the Chicago Board of Trade; in
151996, he and his wife retired to their farm in rural
16Dodgeville, Wisconsin; and
 
17    WHEREAS, After retiring, John Lind quickly became immersed
18in community service, becoming President of the local Habitat
19for Humanity chapter and serving on the boards of the Iowa
20County Area Economic Development Corporation, the Dodgeville
21Historic Preservation Committee, Community Action Ventures,

1the Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, and the Hodan Center;
2in 1999, he was elected to the Dodgeville Town Board, where he
3served for 5 years; he also served on the Iowa County Board
4from 2004 to 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Lind was preceded in death by his parents,
6Knute (Kenneth) Lind and Christine (Coduti) Lind; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Lind is survived by his wife of 48 years,
8Carla; 3 children, Christopher Lind (Carol Metcalfe), Jeremy
9Lind (Dana Limberg), and Brindi Melton; 4 grandchildren,
10Cameron Lind, Elizabeth Lind, Zeke Limberg and Fischer Lind; a
11sister, Joanne Hohman (David); a brother, Richard Lind (Mali);
12a brother-in-law, William Corty (Diane); 2 sisters-in-law,
13Cynthia Corty (Doug Rockne) and Julianne Corty; his best friend
14of 40 years, David Clements (Cynthia); and many nieces,
15nephews, friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
18family and friends, mourn the passing of John Bruce Lind; and
19be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of John Lind as an expression of our
22sympathy.
