SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Atkinson of North Chicago, who
4passed away on June 25, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Atkinson was born on May 6, 1955 in Waukegan
6and raised in North Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, James Atkinson worked for the United States Postal
8Service at its North Chicago office for more than 30 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James Atkinson was a long-time member of Tiny's
10Social Club and an officer of the Zion Benton Moose Lodge; he
11lent his skills as a painter, carpenter, cook, server,
12bartender, and grill master to many people and charity events;
13he played Santa or an elf for the residents at the Kiley
14Developmental Center and NorthPointe Resources in Zion for
15several years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Atkinson was preceded in death by his
17parents, Bud and Sis Atkinson, and by one sister, Diane
18Ptasienski; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Atkinson is survived by his daughter,
20Jennifer Atkinson (Jason Clark); a son, James Jay Atkinson Jr.;

13 sisters, Starr Atkinson, Shelly (Wally) Jakaitis, and Kathy
2(Barry) Delk; one brother, Elmer "Butch" Atkinson; a
3brother-in-law, Greg Ptasienski; his companions, Vicky and
4Roxy; 3 grandsons, Jaden, Charlie, and Tobias; and many loving
5nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8James Atkinson, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of James Atkinson as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
