2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the
death of Jack Roeser of Barrington, who passed |
4 | | away on June 13, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Roeser was born in Chicago in 1923 to Irene |
6 | | and
Otto Roeser; as a young boy he
designed free flight |
7 | | airplanes, winning national championships, which inspired him |
8 | | to later
become an engineer; in 1942, Jack Roeser enlisted in |
9 | | the United States Army, serving as a Combat
Engineer in the |
10 | | Philippines, and was among the first soldiers to enter Japan |
11 | | after its surrender
in World War II; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, After returning from the war, Jack Roeser enrolled |
13 | | at the University of Illinois where
he received a Mechanical |
14 | | Engineering degree; he later successfully founded 3 companies; |
15 | | the
most recent OTTO Engineering in Carpentersville, which |
16 | | began in his basement and has grown
to over 500 employees; and

17 | | WHEREAS, Jack Roeser was an advocate for conservative |
18 | | causes and active in Illinois Republican politics; in 1994, he |
19 | | ran for the Republican nomination for Governor of Illinois, and |
20 | | continued to further his political ideas through his political |
21 | | action committees, El Suenyo, The Family Taxpayer's Network, |
22 | | and Champion News; and
