SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joyce (nee Thomas) Williams of Waukegan,
4who passed away on April 12, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joyce Williams was born on August 29, 1929 in
6Austin, Texas to Roger and Eva Thomas, Sr.; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joyce Williams retired as a special education
8teacher with the Waukegan Independent School District,
9teaching at Lyons and Washington Schools; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joyce Williams was a member of Shiloh Baptist
11Church of Waukegan, the Waukegan Uptown Lions Club, the Women
12With Money Investment Club, the North Shore Community Service
13League, The Links, Incorporated-Harbor Lites Chapter, and the
14Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.-Sigma Phi Zeta Chapter; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joyce Williams was preceded in death by her
16parents; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joyce Williams is survived by her husband,
18Augustus D. Williams; 2 step-daughters, Rossana Williams and
19Shirlisa (Garland) Hamiltion; 2 step-sons, Gregory Williams
20and Augustus Williams, III; 5 grandchildren, Dawn Williams,

1Jordan Williams, Ian Edy, Demetri Morris Williams, and Colin
2Dean Edwards; 5 siblings, Narva (Therman) Kirby, Mae Thelma
3Turman, George R. (Cheryl) Thomas, Donna (Alfred) Thomas Clark,
4and Linda C. Thomas; 3 sisters-in-law, Georgia Nell Thomas,
5Peggy Shields, and Jackie Williams; 5 nieces, Marsha (Donald)
6Woods Bratton, Lauralyn E. Jeter, Monica Woods, Eva Lee-Andra
7Hicks, and Ri-Chard Thomas; 6 nephews, Tillman "Seeker" Woods,
8Cory House, Richard Kirby, Gregory Karo, Jadaun Clark, and
9Michael Thomas; 3 cousins, Mary Alice Bess, Judy Carter, and
10Opal Thomas; 2 goddaughters, Sherida Murphy and Patricia Pitts
11O'Neal; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and
12life-long friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Joyce Williams, and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Joyce Williams as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
