SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bessie Mary Wiley of Memphis, Tennessee,
4who passed away on April 1, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley was born on September 27, 1931 in
6Yazoo, Mississippi; her parents were Columbus and Bessie (nee
7Simpson) Wiley; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley attended Grant Elementary School and
9Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley accepted Christ at an early age and
11attended First Chelsea Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee for
12more than 70 years; she was a faithful and active member of the
13choir, mother board, Sunday school, hospitality, and
14environmental service for many years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley was employed at Memphis State
16University for 26 years as environmental servant; after
17retiring, she worked for Senior Services, Inc. until 2011; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley was preceded in death by her parents;
19her brothers, Merk, James, Johnnie, and Albert Wiley; her
20sister, Emma Claxton; and sons, James and Gregory Wiley; and

1    WHEREAS, Bessie Wiley is survived by sons, Clint, Clyde,
2and James Wiley; daughters, Flora, Wanda, Edwina Wiley and
3Janice Mallory; grandchildren, Beau Danner (Rashawnda),
4Jarrett Mallory, Jr., Carol, Monica Johnson, Mario Johnson,
5Lashaundra and LaQuinton Banks, Sierra Brock, Janelle Wiley,
6and Regina Wiley; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law,
7Laverne Wiley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
8friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Bessie Mary Wiley; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bessie Wiley as an expression of our
15sympathy.
