SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Arlene M. Carl of McHenry, who passed
4away on January 17, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was born on May 18, 1921 in
6Pocahontas, Iowa; her parents were John M. and Helen (nee
7Welsh) Flaherty; she married Bob Carl on December 26, 1942 in
8Joplin, Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Prior to World War II, Arlene Carl moved to
10Chicago, where she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company
11as an operator and supervisor; after marrying, she and her
12husband purchased their first and second homes in Des Plaines
13before moving to McHenry, where she resided for the rest of her
14life; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was a mainstay at the Des Plaines
16Theater and at Spiegler's Department Store; after moving to
17McHenry, she and her husband volunteered at the Centegra
18Medical Center for nearly 20 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was a member of St. Mary Catholic
20Church in McHenry and a charter member of St. Stephen's
21Protomartyr Church in Des Plaines; and

1    WHEREAS, Arlene Carl was preceded in death by her husband,
2Bob; her parents; her brother, Tommy Flaherty; and her sister,
3Jean Renshaw; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Arlene Carl is survived by her children, Tom
5(Dianne) Carl, John (Ronda) Carl, and Bill (Cindy) Carl; her
6grandchildren, Jeff (Tamra) Carl, Scott Carl, Carrie (John)
7Alkire, Mike Carl, Andy (Jamie) Carl, Jackie (Rob) Aurelius,
8Billy Oaks, Christina (Jeff) Piper, and Katie Carl; and her
9great-grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Carl, Johnny, Haylie,
10Matthew, and Emylie Alkire, Avery Aurelius, Victoria and Sophie
11Oaks, and Gabe, Brooks, and Lauren Piper; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Arlene M. Carl; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Arlene Carl as an expression of our
18sympathy.
