SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Larry S. Mills of Danville, who passed
4away on July 5, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Mills was born on January 17, 1955, in
6Elgin; his parents were Robert C. and Betty (Sholes) Mills; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Larry Mills had a long legal career as an
8assistant State's Attorney in Vermilion County and by later
9opening his own private law practice; he was jokingly known as
10a "walking law encyclopedia" and was always happy to answer
11questions from both prosecutors and defense attorneys; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Larry Mills was a member of the David Palmer Civic
13Center Board and the Vermilion County Board; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Larry Mills enjoyed books and was a member of two
15book clubs; he had a passion for movies and the theater and
16traveled annually to Stratford, Ontario for the Shakespeare
17festival; he also enjoyed cooking, long leisurely meals with
18his friends, and sharing a glass of wine with the ones he
19loved; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Larry Mills was preceded in death by his mother

1and his first wife, Ann Mills; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Larry Mills is survived by his father, Robert; his
3brother, Steve Mills; his sister, Cathy Yant; his nieces,
4Samantha Piper and Jamie (Scott) Burpo; his nephews, Levi
5(Kirsten) Yant, Jim (Kim) Mills, and Jason (Natalie) Mills; his
6special friends, Jan Keeler, Sue Woods, Lynda Morgan, and Frank
7Young; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Larry S. Mills; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Larry Mills as an expression of our
15sympathy.
