2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dorothy Jean Galloway of Rockford, who |
4 | | passed away on September 29, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was born on March 2, 1948 in |
6 | | DeKalb to Leo and Erma (nee Henke) Galloway; she graduated from |
7 | | Lincoln High School and studied at the University of |
8 | | Wisconsin-Stevens Point before moving to Rockford; she married |
9 | | Howard "Eddie" Riddle; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway had a long career in retail at |
11 | | Rockford Stevens before moving into the marketing and public |
12 | | relations field; most recently she worked for Cevene Care |
13 | | Clinic in Rockford; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Galloway was a community volunteer and |
15 | | advocate for many Rockford area non-profit organizations; she |
16 | | was an avid promoter of the arts and was involved in many |
17 | | fundraisers, boards, and charitable organizations, including |
18 | | MotherHouse, the Aids Care Network, the Hunger Connection, and |
19 | | the Northern Illinois Food Bank; affectionately known to those |
20 | | around her as Toots, Jeanie, Galloway, or Dorth, she was |
21 | | awarded the "Spirit of Caring" award from the Crusader Clinic, |
22 | | which is given to individuals or organizations who exhibit |
