SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patrick Allen Parsons of Peoria, who
4passed away on October 9, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons was born on July 12, 1949 in
6Springfield, Missouri; his parents were Kenneth and Erma (nee
7Hicks) Parsons; he married Linda Potts on January 17, 1970 in
8Springfield, Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons grew up on a farm outside
10Marshfield, Missouri; he graduated in 1971 from Southwest
11Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri and earned
12his Master of Business Administration from the University of
13Missouri in Columbia, Missouri in 1976; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons served his country with pride as a
15member of the United States Army from 1971 to 1974; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons served as the Human Resources
17Director for the City of Peoria; he served as an arbitrator for
18the Better Business Bureau of Central Illinois for 15 years; he
19also served as Executive Director of Illinois Central College
20for 5 years and as an adjunct instructor at Robert Morris
21College; and

1    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons was an active member and officer
2of the International Public Management Association for Human
3Resources for 21 years; he earned certification as a Senior
4Professional in Human Resources and was awarded the Barbara
5Sundquist Distinguished Service Award and the Carl K. Wettengel
6Achievement Award for his work; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons was an active member of St.
8Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons was preceded in death by his
10parents and his brother, Montie "Michael" Parsons; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Patrick Parsons is survived by his wife, Linda;
12his children, Brian (Carol) Parsons, Ben Parsons, and Brigitta
13(Nathan) Enderle; his grandchildren, Aidan, Declan, Kian, and
14Keira Parsons, Kennedy Parsons, and Julia Enderle; and his
15siblings, Judy (Ed) Mahoney, Edie (Larry) Herman, Cathie
16(Walter) Oberbeck, Steve (Jennifer) Parsons, David (Kate)
17Parsons, Chris (Lisa) Parsons, Rachel (Dan) Young, and Joe
18(Linda) Parsons; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
21family and friends, mourn the passing of Patrick Allen Parsons;

3presented to the family of Patrick Parsons as an expression of
4our sympathy.
